Whatsapp to end support for these smartphones by the end of 2016. Here's the list

Earlier this year, Whatsapp turned seven years old. This messaging application has now reached about one billion monthly active users worldwide. It has been a long and amazing journey of whatsapp with us. But now, the company wants us to upgrade our smartphones, which are running on older versions of Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Whatsapp which is now Facebook-owned firm, was started in 2009, when Apple App Store was only a few months old. About 70 percent of smartphones sold at that time had operating systems offered by BlackBerry and Nokia. But now, 99.5 percent of smartphones has operating system offered by Google, Apple and Microsoft.

In a technology upgrade, WhatsApp planned to phase out compatibility with older phones as they plan to focus on the mobile platforms that vast majority of people use. WhatsApp in a blog post had said older operating systems did not "offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future."

So, whatsapp confirmed, the discontinuation of its service for older smartphones by the end of this month i.e, December, 2016

The mobile platforms which would not be supported are:

  • Android : Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
  • Windows : Windows Phone 7
  • BlackBerry : BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
  • iPhone : 3G/iOS6
  • Nokia : Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60

However, whatsapp support will be extended for the following devices until June 30, 2017:

  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
  • Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60

There is no need to worry, you just have to upgrade your smartphones to enjoy whatsapp messaging.

(Consider sharing this article with your friends and family so that they can be aware in time and you can continue staying in touch with them through WhatsApp. Share through WhatsApp , Facebook or Twitter).

Experience the photographic world in 3D with Bevel for $49

We all love to click pictures from our cell phones and digital camera's, so that we can hold on the memories, evoke a reaction, show true happiness and yes, our favorite one is to share them with friends on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. In this Hi-Tech world where we enjoy 3D movies and video games then, why should we only limit ourselves to 2D photographs when we can have fun with them in 3D.

However, like many early technologies, 3D capture devices are mostly too expensive and complicated. But, thanks to Canadian company Matter and Form which is aiming to change this with Bevel, a device that changes your smartphone into a 3D camera. Bevel will also come with a companion app, which will allow users to capture and share these 3D models.

The reason for which it stands out of the other similar devices is that other 3D attachments/devices create the illusion of 3D by enhancing the depth of an image, but fail to capture a file that you can actually use. You can even use Bevel for 3D printing. This is called as Genuine 3D™ photography.
Now what does this Genuine 3D™ photography mean?. It means that the photos can be rotated, turned into animated GIFs and viewed from multiple angles. You can also add an image of the background behind the 3D photo.

Bevel uses an eye safe laser light, and the existing camera on your Android or IOS device, to capture photographs in a whole new dimension.

Now let's see how it works?Simply, plug in the Bevel into the headphone jack of your smartphone or tablet and you are done with the installation of the device. Have an object still for a few seconds and capture the photograph. After clicking the photo, wait for the software to apply sweet filters. Now you are ready to upload the picture on Cashew, which is a free online platform for sharing and uploading 3D work. You can also your photo directly to sites like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Wordpress blogs, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. or share directly to your contact list.

The company launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund this product and at the time of writing this post, it pledged more than $300,000 with the goal of just $200,000.

Here’s a video that was created to help with crowdfunding the Bevel:

Bear Soles, a premium shoe insole that helps you to stay cozy and warm in the winters

Sometimes, we all prefer to wear loafers or shoes without socks, but we all know the problems that we face , and they are chafed and crack skin, diseases like athletes foot, callus, fungal infection and most importantly our feet stinks badly.

But thanks to Honey Soles, a company in New York, which made the shoe insoles which helped us to overcome these problems. Last year, Honey Soles launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with the slogan "Honey Soles | Transform your shoes. Forget the socks" and successfully pledged $57,791 with goal of just $5,000. Now, they are back again for us with winter stuff i.e, Bear Soles.

So here it goes, the sole of your foot has over 200,000 nerve endings in it, one of the highest concentrations anywhere in the body. And in the winter, the ground can be up to 10 degrees colder than the air temperature. Keeping your feet warm has the highest impact on keeping the rest of your body warm.

By, adding a sheepskin layer(i.e. Bear Soles) to the bottom of your shoes works much like the insulation you may find in your home. Cold air is kept out. A microclimate is created around your skin that retains the body’s natural temperature. Bear Soles are made of natural, fine grain, Australian sheepskin. One of the softest and most indulgent available on the market today.

They are very easy to use, simply remove your current shoe insoles and insert the bear insoles. It also has remarkable advantages over normal insoles such as repels growth of fungus and bacteria, durable and shock absorbing, keeps your feet warm in cold weather and won't overheat while indoors, grooved base design which helps Bear Soles stable in the shoes and lastly, supportive & contoured design which means they’re engineered to help with things like posture, alignment and arch support.

After rigorously using Bear Soles for weeks or months, If you see your Bear Soles beginning to get dirty, simply remove them from your shoes and treat the wool with a brush or comb.
Honey Soles launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund this product and at the time of writing this post, it pledged more than $20K with the goal of just $5,000.

Nebia, a Shower Head Startup, Received funding from Tim Cook of Apple and claims 70% water savings

Almost, everyone prefers showers over baths.
In an average, showers are typically third largest water use after toilets and cloth washers. The average American shower uses 17.2 gallons (65.1 liters) and lasts for 8.2 minutes at an average flow rate of 2.1 gallons per minute.
And, yes millions of gallons of water and  lots of energy is wasted daily by using the shower head.

But, This startup has re-engineered the showerhead to be radically efficient in conserving both water and heat, without sacrificing comfort.
The unique shower system uses atomizing technology, originally developed for jet engines, to turn water into a fine mist. The shower wets more thoroughly and in a larger area, while using 70% less water than a typical shower.
The average shower takes 20 gallons of water, Nebia said its product used six gallons.

Nebia also helps you conserve energy. Traditional household showers consume markedly more energy than a Nebia just to heat the water and the majority of that hot water goes straight down the drain. Nebia is 13 times more efficient at delivering the heat you pay for to your body, making your daily shower in a Nebia 13 times more thermally efficient. The combination of Nebia’s water and energy savings translates to lower monthly utility bills.

The Nebia sensation stays with you long after you leave your shower. For hours after finishing your shower, you feel rejuvenated. Your skin feels cleansed and refreshed. Your hair shines. Your muscles relax. There is no better way to start your day.
You all would be wondering that will it be able to rinse your hair: Yes, it does rinse your hair.

Nebia has tested prototypes of the shower head with the students, employees, and customers of Equinox Gyms, Google, Apple, and Stanford University.
The Nebia shower launched a campaign on Kickstarter in August 2015 and raised over $3M in one month. Also, Nebia has declined to say that how much fund did it received from Tim Cook and the company Apple told that Mr. Cook’s stake in the start-up was a personal investment.

Get multiple receivers if afraid to miss the bell ring. Though transmitter doesn't need batteries or power supply, but yes receiver is needed to be plugged in to a power supply. Linbell is entirely self-sufficient, converting the kinetic energy of the switch actuation into a voltage pulse, powering an RF transmitter and sending signals to the receiver. Most of the wireless bells are not audible but in case of linbell this is not so, as its maximum volume can be upto 100db. Linbell is programmed with 36 types of ring tones and adjustable on the volume. 10 New Features Of Windows 10 Anniversary Update that you must know

Windows 10’s second big update, dubbed the “Anniversary Update”, is finally here. This is a huge update that touches every corner of the operating system. Free for all Windows 10 users, the update is shaped by feedback from Microsoft's Windows Insider program.

If you don’t have it yet, try checking for updates in Windows 10’s Settings > Update & Security. You can also start the update manually  from Microsoft’s support page here.

1)Cortana—Your Digital Agent

Cortana is ready to help you in more places in Windows 10, including the lock screen. When your device is locked, you can still check your calendar ("What's my schedule for tomorrow like?") or ask Cortana important questions ("Can you beatbox?").

And forget about writing tasks on your hands just to remember, say, your dad's birthday—create reminders based on location, time, and even people. Cortana can help you remember to wish your dad a happy birthday at a specific time, or remind you to pick up a cake when you're at the grocery store.

2)Rule The Web With Microsoft Edge

The context menu for extensions in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge has so many updates, we need a list to cover them all:

  • Use Extensions to personalize and protect your browsing with add-ons like Office Online, Microsoft Translator, and more.
  • Enlist Cortana to show you similar image suggestions on Bing searches, or even the lyrics to a music video you're watching.
  • Pin individual tabs to the Start screen for easy access.
  • If you have a touchsreen device, browse more briskly by swiping left/right to go back/forward to different webpages.

3)Windows 10 Gets a Dark Theme (and More Theme Options)

With the Anniversary Update, you can now choose between light and dark modes in Settings > Personalization > Colors. Its designed for Windows Store apps, but not every app will listen to this setting and obey it–some apps, especially those from third-party developers, control their own theme settings. This also means File Explorer will remain as blindingly white as ever. You can also choose color of your own choice for start, taskbar and action center.

4)Get Creative With Windows Ink

Windows Ink puts the power of Windows in the tip of your tablet pen, enabling you to write on your device just like you do on paper, create sticky notes, draw on a whiteboard, and easily share your analog thoughts in the digital world. Windows Ink is integrated into apps like Maps, OneNote, Microsoft Edge, and Office.

5)Simpler Start Menu

Microsoft has changed the way Windows 10’s Start menu works. The “All Apps” option is now gone–you’ll just see a full list of installed applications at the left side of your Start menu. Your most frequently used and recently added applications will appear at the top of this list. It’ll show the three most recently added applications instead of a single one, and you can expand this list to see more applications sorted by when you installed them.

Important buttons like the File Explorer, Settings, and Shut Down buttons are now always located at the left side of the Start menu.

OneDrive users will be happy to know that they can now search all their files–both files on the PC and files stored online in OneDrive–from the Start menu.

6)Improved Notifications In Action Center

Action center
Action center has moved to a new location in the far right corner of the taskbar, and sports a new look that gives you the power to organize your notifications however you see fit.

You no longer need to open action center to see how many notifications you have—the number on the action center icon(highlighted above) shows you how many notifications are waiting for you. Other apps pinned to the taskbar can also show the number of notifications you've missed.

7)Do More On The Lock Screen

Cortana isn't the only new feature on the lock screen—you can now play music while your device is locked to control the action from start to stop. Media controls appear at the bottom right corner of the lock screen, along with a picture of the album art from the song currently playing.

8)Windows hello for apps and websites

Fingerprint sensors have been a huge convenience on phones and tablets, and Windows currently supports it for logging into your laptop too via Windows Hello–provided it has the necessary hardware. But in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Windows Hello will support Windows apps and Microsoft Edge, so you can securely log into apps and web sites using your fingerprint as well–not just Windows itself.

You can also sign in to your PC using Windows Hello companion devices, such as Microsoft Band and some Windows 10 phones.

9)The Store Is Redesigned

The new Windows Store design includes features that should appeal to gamers in particular. It's aligned more closely with the Xbox Store, and now offers game bundles and subscriptions. For everyone else, the new design does make it a bit easier to get to the top apps, music, and movies. The Store's download progress indicator is now bigger and clearer, too.

10)Windows Defender Gets Better for Security

You can also schedule regular scans, and use Cloud Protection and Automatic Sample Submission for quicker threat response. PCMag's security analyst, Neil Rubenking, notes that Defender has improved its performance on independent lab tests, but he still recommends third-party antivirus for superior protection.

Note- It may take half an hour or more to update your windows 10 and your computer might restart several times, don't panic and update it in free time.

Airing: the first hoseless, maskless, micro-CPAP to get rid of snoring and to cure sleep apnea

Before you start reading this article ask a question to your partner or parents, do you snore? If, yes you are in trouble and it should be diagnosed immediately. Read further to know what can snoring leads to and why airing should be used to cure it.

Snoring is the often loud or harsh sound that can occur as you sleep. About 40 percent of adult men and 24 percent of adult women are habitual snorers. Snoring can be a nuisance to your partner and anyone else nearby. You may even snore loudly enough to wake yourself up.

Light snoring may not disrupt your overall sleep quality. Heavy snoring may be associated with obstructive sleep apnea, a serious sleep disorder and a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and many other health problems.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea (AP-ne-ah) is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep. Breathing pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. They may occur 30 times or more an hour. Typically, normal breathing then starts again, sometimes with a loud snort or choking sound.

Untreated, sleep apnea causes a number of serious health problems, including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, memory impairment, weight gain, and headaches.

Sleep Apnea-Treatment
CPAP machines can mitigate this problem, but their poor design causes sleep apnea sufferers to give up on it: 50% of CPAP users stop using it within one year. But with a new invention called the Airing which help the patients to get rid of sleep apnea and snoring problem too without going beyond their comfort zone.

How Airing Works?

Like other sleep apnea devices, the Airing sends air into a wearer’s breathing tubes to keep them from collapsing. That can also eliminate snoring because it ensures airflow doesn't get obstructed. The Airing uses hundreds of tiny micro-blower plates, which open and close because of electrostatic force. When the plates have opposite charges, they attract, squeezing together like bellows. Each little pump does that thousands of times per second to create airflow. The air comes through two nose buds, which are made of molded silicon rubber. The buds form a seal inside the nose to maintain the air pressure and ensure that the device stays in place while the wearer sleeps. The Airing is powered by zinc-air batteries, which are powerful and light. But the batteries are not rechargeable, so each Airing can only be used once.

Design Specifications:

The Airing has raised more than $1,566,000 on Indiegogo and is a prototype by now. The company is building up full working product and each Airing is estimated to retail for $3. It would be available in market after it gets FDA clearance and insurance approval. But the company promises to start its shipping by July next year.

Here’s a video that was created to help with crowdfunding the Airing:
